The 135 MW Natural Gas Power Plant project in Kyeikphyu township in Rakhine State is one of the 6 investments approved by Myanmar Investment Commission in 2020. The project cost US$ 260 million.
The Myanmar Investment Commission has approved this project as 100% percent foreign investment at Gonechanekwin village in Kyeikphyu township. It said this is Natural Gas and waste heat using power plant.
The joint-venture of Chinese firm Sinohydro and local Suprin frim would invest US$ 180 million in this project.
At the end of 2021, electricity would be generated and it incurs costs of K40 per unit to generate. Sinohydro firm is Chinese government-owned firm and is the 6th largest firm in China.
