Before taking the role in Britain's highest office, Boris Johnson earned a large fortune through his work as a journalist and politician. The Prime Minister's job is now under threat after damning Downing Street party allegations
Boris Johnson is a Prime Minister under fire.
Calls for him to resign have been heard from opposition MPs in the House of Commons, as well as some of his own members.
The PM was forced to apologise after attending a party held at Number 10 during lockdown in May 2020, revealed in a leaked email sent by close adviser Martin Reynolds.
What is Boris Johnson's net worth?
Johnson - real name Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson - is reported by Celebrity Net Worth to be worth around £1.4 million.
After an education at Eton and the University of Oxford, the 57-year-old PM embarked on a career in journalism until 2001, when he entered the world of politics as MP for Henley-on-Thames.
He became London Mayor in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012, before returning to Parliament in 2016 and finally reaching the top job as PM in 2019.
As a journalist, Boris' stint as a regular columnist for the Daily Telegraph saw him earn around £250,000 every year - a salary he once sneeringly သရော် dismissed as "chicken-feed" when he was called out for having a second job while being mayor.
His roles before becoming PM as London mayor and an MP gave him earnings of £829,255 all together, according to investment platform AJ Bell.
Currently he earns £81,932 as MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, and an additional salary as PM of £75,440, taking his current annual earnings to £157,372.
Boris Johnson's Oxfordshire home
During his role as editor of The Spectator, Johnson bought his Grade II-listed Oxfordshire home for around £640,000 in 2003.
The property is being let out for a monthly rent price of £4,250 as his current home is the 11 Downing Street flat above his official residence at Number 10.
According to Mansion Global, the cottage now has an estimated value of £1.2million.
The picturesque property comes equipped with a swimming pool and tennis court.
Boris Johnson's London homes
Boris has been fortunate enough to live in a number of London homes over the years. Johnson's second marriage to Marina Wheeler saw the couple purchase a huge Islington townhouse.
Five floors of Victorian luxury gave the couple plenty of space and it has a balcony and rooms that overlook the neighbouring Regent’s Canal.
It is also a Grade II-listed building and was sold in 2019 for £400,000 below the valuation of £3.75million. After his split from Wheeler, Johnson is reported to have moved into a Camberwell flat with his new flame and now-wife Carrie Johnson.
