Oregon 77-acre Ranch With Own Airstrip in a National Forest Heads to Auction

A sprawling Oregon ranch with its own private airstrip is headed to auction next month without reserve.

Known as Illahee Ranch, the estate spans more than 77 acres in the middle of the Umpqua National Forest and will be going under the hammer live at the ranch on June 22 with Elite Auctions.

For anyone looking to snap up the home before the auction, it’s also available to buy for $3.49 million, according to listing records.

The ranch, around 200 miles south of Portland, is "a hidden paradise in the Pacific Northwest," according to Randy Haddaway of Elite Auctions.

It comprises four log cabins, including one built in 1914 as well as the “owner’s retreat,” which comes with vaulted ceilings, a master suite with a walk-in closet and wet bar and a covered deck.

Plus there’s a 2,800-foot-long runway and accompanying hangar, a greenhouse with an automatic watering and monitoring system and equestrian facilities.

The property has a rich history. For hundreds of years, Native Americans would meet on the land. “They would have what we would know as the summer Olympics and they would do foot races and they would trade wares,” owner Bill Woods said in a promotional video for the home.

Mansion Global could not determine when he purchased the ranch, or how much he paid.

Due to its location among nearly a million acres of national forest, the next resident’s closest neighbors are likely to be the two large elk herds that spend the year on or near the property.

“If you come here, you can literally just zone out, you won't see another human being,” Mr. Woods said.
