Tanintharyi Regional Tourism Committee has approved a hotel licence to construct a hotel worth 800 million kyats in Myeik.
The hotel will be constructed on Myeik’s Strand Road this year, Deputy Director U Win Thein, Region Directorate of Hotel and Tourism, Tanintharyi Region.
At the meeting of the Tourism Committee of Tanintharyi Region, three new licenses were issued, but two tour companies returned their licenses. The licence surrending is not related to the decline in tour and travel services due to the outbreak of COVID-19 virus, said U Win Thein.
The Myeik Archipelago has become one of the most popular destinations for domestic and international travellers, as well as a potential tourist destination for the region in the future.
Currently, only one salt-water shrimp market worth K 3300 million worth of investment entered Tanintharyi Region from 2017 to 2019, according to DICA.
