Yoma Microw Power will partner with the World Bank's IFC and Norway's state-owned investment company Norfund to implement 2,000 rural electrification projects.
These projects will be implemented throughout Myanmar including Bago, Kachin , Tanintharyi, and Yangon. Currently, 250 projects have been implemented in Magway, Sagaing and Mandalay regions, with the company’s investment amount of more than $ 28 million.
The company has invested more than $ 10,000 in solar power generation in the village of Thitseint Gyi, Waklatt township, Sagaing region. The power plant will generate 32 kilowatts of electricity and will be distributed to telecommunication towers and villages, according to reports. The company will charge about 8,000 kyats a month and set a K 300 for business use. The electricity will be provided to villages five hours a day.
There are many companies that offer the government electricity for rural electrification during the four years of government, but only Yoma Micro Power Company can operate the electricity in Sagaing region, said Minister of Electricity, Technical, Road and Communication U Than Nyunt Win.
He added that current electricity situation in Sagaing is improving and the government could continue to expand the electrification.
