A 347-Acre Estate in Kent, England, Lists for £5.675M

The agricultural property is split into five lots but is being listed together

A 347-acre agricultural and residential estate in Kent, England, hit the market earlier this month for £5.675 million (US$7.25 million), according to a spokesperson for BTF Partnership, the brokerage representing the property.

The property has been owned by the Thoburn family for the past 100 years, but they are selling upon the death of Patricia Thoburn at 90 years old last October, according to a news release. The Thoburn family could not be reached for comment.

The estate’s largest lot, which totals 183 acres, contains the Pympne Manor, a Grade ll*-listed farmer’s house. Dating back to the 15th century, the original framing of the property is still intact despite it being expanded in the 1920s, according to the listing. The property listed on Aug. 11.

An adjacent barn, a Grade II-listed building that dates to the 18th century, has an oak-timber frame and is used for household and garden storage.

Additionally, a three-bedroom cottage and a neighboring one-bed flat in the west corner of the lot have garden views. Originally used for stabling horses, it was converted into a dwelling in the 1980s, according to the listing.

The second lot, totaling 52 acres, has the Mount Hall Farmhouse, a four-bed Grade II-listed house dating to the 16th century, according to the listing. The lot also has a barn and livestock building.

The remaining three lots contain vast acreage of pastures, apple orchards, and wheat fields, along with other agricultural buildings.

Located in the village of Benenden, the Pympne Manor Estate consists of five different lots, many of which contain various historically and architecturally significant properties. The estate is being offered as a whole, the seller’s preferred method, but certain lots can be purchased individually, according to the listing.

The village neighbors the town of Pluckley, the filming site of the popular British comedy show “The Darling Buds of May.”

Alex Cornwallis of BTF Partnership, the listing agent for the property, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
