Swedish Princess Madeleine’s Palm Beach home sells for $3.65 million

o matter where Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her family settle in Florida, it won’t be at the Palm Beach house that was just sold by a company co-managed by her husband.
The five-bedroom house at 207 Bahama Lane changed hands today for $3.65 million, according to the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

Christopher P. O’Neill, the princess’ financier husband, was one of the managers of Bahama Beach Holdings LLC, the limited liability company that apparently sold the property. The other manager was a Belize-based company associated with his mother, Eva Marie O’Neill, courthouse records show. Princess Madeleine’s mother-in-law resided at the property during her stays in Palm Beach.
No deed has been recorded for the sale on the Palm Beach County Clerk’s website, so the buyer hasn’t been identified.

It’s also unclear whether the princess and her British-American husband are buying — or have already bought — another house in Palm Beach.

Palm Beach County property records show Christopher O’Neill’s ownership company bought the property on Bahama Lane for about $2 million in June 2008, six years before his marriage to the princess.

The news that the princess and her family are moving to the Sunshine State from their home in London was first reported early this month by the Swedish newspaper Expressen and then confirmed by the Royal House of Sweden. The family will maintain a residence in Stockholm, according to a court statement.

Palm Beach real estate agent Rosalind Clarke of the Corcoran Group had the listing for the Bermuda-style house built in 1954 on Bahama Lane. The property was priced at just under $4 million.

Clarke couldn’t be reached for comment, but her sales description said the house was “stylishly renovated” with a state-of-the-art kitchen, updated marble-appointed bathrooms, a private garden and a covered dining terrace. The house has 4,360 square feet of living space, inside and out, and stands on a third-acre lot on the North End.

Clarke had marketed the house for sale and lease since 2015, according to records in the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

The princess and her husband have been married since 2013 after reportedly meeting in 2010 in New York City. At the time, she was working there as part of her duties with the World Childhood Foundation, a charity co-founded with her mother, Queen Silvia. The couple made their home in New York City.

The couple made their first public appearance as a couple in 2011 at a Red Cross Ball ambassadors’ reception in Palm Beach, as reported in the Palm Beach Daily News.

Their wedding in Stockholm drew a number of Palm Beachers, including Luce Churchill, Liza Pulitzer Calhoun, Ann Fisher and her late husband, Jerome, Kate and Hashem Khoshrovani and Audrey and Martin Gruss.

Christopher O’Neill was born in London, but his father was an American businessman, the late Paul O’Neill. Christopher O’Neill attended college and graduate school in America, and his professional resume includes positions as a securities analyst at Steinberg Asset Management and Noster Capital, according to an online biographical sketch.

The princess gave birth in 2014 to the couple’s first child, Princess Lenore, now 4, in New York City. Two other children followed — Prince Nicolas, 3, and Princess Adrienne, 5 months.

“The time and opportunity for the United States are good for the family while the children are still of pre-school age,” according to the statement from the royal court. “Princess Madeleine has a great commitment to children’s rights and will continue working with the World Childhood Foundation and, through the move, be able to focus more on the activities in the United States.”
