Chinese billionaire heir Huang Zitao has live-streamed the sale of his own sanitary pad brand in a bid to rebuild trust after recent product safety scandals rocked the country.
The 32-year-old pop star and actor from Shandong province in eastern China trained in South Korea and inherited an estimated US$3 billion after his father, one of China’s richest men, passed away in 2020.
Known for his outspoken personality and love for his wife, singer Xu Yiyang, Huang has gained more than 66 million followers on mainland social media.
In March, several Chinese sanitary pad factories were exposed for repackaging and reselling used pads and baby nappies at inflated prices.

Outraged, Huang called the practice “disgusting” and pledged to launch his own factory to make pads women could trust.
He bought a factory, installed new equipment, and teamed up with the personal care brand Duowei.
Huang said his team invested 275 million yuan (US$40 million) to build his own sanitary pad brand, Domyway, which was founded in 2025.
His factory runs three fully automated production lines, churning out a total of 3,600 pads a minute, with each pack featuring a QR code that lets consumers watch the entire production process in real time.
Some netizens questioned whether an all-male team could truly understand the needs of women.

Huang responded by saying that his wife, Xu, had tested three to four versions of the pads and vouched that they were “absolutely clean and safe”, even if they were not perfect.
Some people online voiced support for the venture.
“I trust Huang’s character, so I will definitely buy his products,” said one.
On April 11, Huang offered 49,500 trial sanitary pad boxes during a live stream for just 0.01 yuan each, and they sold out within a minute.
