Shwe Taung Co., Ltd To Handle Eastern Part of Yangon Circular Railway Upgrade Project
The Yangon circular railway renovation and upgrade project will be carried out into two parts: the eastern part and the western part. Myanma Railways has signed an agreement with Shwe Taung Co., Ltd to handle the eastern part of the project, said U Kyaw Kyaw Myo, General Manager of Myanma Railways.
“We’ve signed an agreement with Shwe Taung Co., Ltd yesterday. We have to implement many processes to complete the upgrade project. So, it is not sure which process will be started first. The upgrading process will be run soon,” he said.
The upgrade work covers the upgrading the drainages along railroad, pebble caving, streets cleaning, building high platforms, signal system installation and fencing, according to the Myanma Railways.
The eastern part of railway project covers the stations and railways of the Danyingone-Mingalardon-Paywetseikkon stations. The second step will involve the stretch from Paywetseikon to Pazundaung station.
The western part of the project will be implemented by A-1 company which won the tender on February 21. The two processes will be simultaneously implemented, said a senior official of Myanma Railways.
Myanma Railways will implement the project with US$ 301.29 million of JICA’s loan and the country’s budget to complete during two years.
