A prominent Saudi academic has described global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo as a “rare phenomenon” and is offering to conduct a scientific study on the athlete’s exceptional physical condition, in the name of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Ahmadi, Professor of Exercise Physiology at Taibah University, said Ronaldo is an unparalleled model in modern sports science, thanks to his discipline, physical fitness, and longevity in a profession where most players fade in their thirties.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is not just an athlete; he is a case study,” Al Ahmadi said during a televised interview on Saudi Arabia’s state-run channel. “His biological age is in his twenties, despite being over 40 chronologically. He’s getting younger, biologically, as he ages.”
Calling the Portuguese star’s lifestyle “a blueprint of peak human conditioning,” Al Ahmadi cited Ronaldo’s near-perfect body metrics, including 50 per cent muscle mass and only 7 per cent body fat, as extraordinary even by elite athletic standards.
“There is no room for randomness in his life,” he added. “Everything from nutrition to training to sleep is managed with scientific precision.”
Dr. Al Ahmadi expressed a desire to volunteer his expertise to study Ronaldo’s body composition and biological age using anthropometric and international physiological methods.
He said the goal is to document and publish the findings in global academic journals under Saudi Arabia’s name, turning Ronaldo’s presence in the Kingdom into a scientific legacy.
“Having Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia is an unmissable opportunity,” he said. “We must scientifically study and share this model of health with the world. The global community is hungry for such data, and Saudi Arabia can be the source.”
He added that Ronaldo's presence has had a measurable effect off the pitch as well. Attendance at Al Nassr matches in Riyadh has surged by 20 per cent.
“Most players retire in their 30s. Ronaldo, through sheer discipline, has extended his career by at least a decade. He’s competing with players half his age, and often outperforming them.”
Al Ahmadi concluded with a nod to one of Ronaldo’s own remarks: “He once said, ‘Don’t think I love going to the gym every day, I’m just like you. But I know I have to do it. You don’t have to love exercise, but you must honor your body and health.”
