Here’s a Grasshopper’s Dream, a cafe at the Gujeol-ri train station near Jeongseon, South Korea. Housed in a train, the cafe is the shape of a grasshopper. Also, there is another cafe in the shape of female grasshopper.
The Grasshopper’s Dream is a cafe with a difference located near the Gujeol-ri train station which is along the popular Auraji rail bike route near Jeongseon, South Korea. Housed in a train, the cafe is the shape of a grasshopper. It takes the form of two green grasshoppers whose legs support two old cars reworked and remodeled, serving as bodies to two insects, from which we can also see the antennae.
The construction is along a famous bike path, on which there are two other places of interest:a pair of equally massive fish and another pair of grasshoppers that are far more cartoonish in appearance. At night, the insect-themed cafe is illuminated by lights coming from below, presenting a great view of the dual bugs day or night.
DINING IN A RAILROAD CAR might not strike travelers as wildly novel, but dining in two converted train cars designed to resemble copulating grasshoppers? That’ll take things up a notch.
“Grasshopper’s Dream,” situated alongside the Gujeol-ri Station, near Jeongseon, South Korea, consists of two green buildings, complete with antennae, metal legs, and black eyes. The lower level serves pasta and the upper level houses a coffee shop.
Gujeol-ri Station is a well-known center for one of South Korea’s lesser-known pastimes: rail biking, which involves pedal-powered (usually four-wheeled) vehicles that run along the rails. The two stacked green cars warrant a double-take from those pedaling by on the Auraji rail bike route.
