Korean Air, which flies direct flights to Myanmar and Korea, will suspend its Yangon-Incheon flight from March 5 to April 25, the airline said in a statement. The airline has suspended the Yangon-Incheon flight as well as all worldwide flights, according to the statement.
The flight was halted due to rising outbreak of COVID-19 virus in Korea, according to the statement. Korea is the country with the most COVID-19 virus infection in the world outside of China. Korean Air is a daily airline between Yangon-Incheon.
Similarly, MAI, which operates four days a week between Yangon and Seoul, will be flying three days a week, the statement said on March 4. It was announced to contact the airlines for the ticket costs for the flight cancellation and the times reduction of the two airlines.
The Government of Myanmar has granted Koreans visa exemption as of October 2018.
According to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, 14,435 Korean tourists entered the country in January 2019 and 13,062 in January 2020.
