The land location presented by Hluttaw representive is not advisable to build a high-grade market, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe responded to the question raised by Yangon Region MP U Zin Min Htwe of Dagon Myothit ( Seikan ) township No.2 constituency at the second emergency session on the fourth day of Yangon regional parliamentary meeting (1/2020) on February 15.
The MP U Zin Min Htwe asked whether there is a plan to build a high-grade market in accordance with the city’s features at the corner of Ngwe Zinyaw Road and Thukhita Road at No. (88) ward, Dagon Myothit ( seikan) township. The land location presented by the Hluttaw representative is an area that is managed by the Yangon City Development Committee," Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe said.
The land area includes 40 plots of land (40 x 60), two plots of land (55 x 60), three plots of land (46 x 60), two plots of land (60 x 60), one irregular plot of land, 48 in total. The irregular No.1538 plot of land is a land title granted to a one-year temporary license under the name of World Vision, a civil society organization called World Vision. The No. 88 market has been opened which is about 2,500 feet away from the proposed land but currently the market is not popular.
And it is planned to upgrade the No. 88 market so it is not appropriate to set up a market for the proposed land, said Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe.
