Yangon’s Thingyan festival pandals ( marquees) will be allowed more than last year, according to Yangon City Development Committee. A total of 35 pandals including the big, medium and walking Thingyan Pandals were allowed to erect on the Pyay Road and other roads last year.
In this year, they will be allowed to erect in uncongested areas, the YCDC said.
"We are just discussing the Thingyan festival for the first time. We have discussed the reveling of the Thingyan festival. But we have not discussed the permits of walking Thingyan, said an official from the Yangon City Development Committee.
A total of 35 pandals including the big, medium and walking Thingyan festival pandals were allowed to erect on the Pyay Road and other roads in 2019. The walking Thingyan festival pandals were allowed to hold at Maha Bandula Park, Kandawgyi Park, Uottama Park ( Kandawmin Park, Myagyunthar Park and Inlya Road, according to reports.
