A Memorandum of Understanding between Tanintharyi Region Government and Sun and Rainbow Company to study a feasibility for the construction of Minthamee Industrial Zone on Thai-Myanmar Border was signed on February 3, the Taninthayi Region Government said in a statement.
Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myint Maung said the project must be implemented in accordance with the laws and regulations. The proposed project Minthamee Industrial Zone implementation on the 6,000 acres of land will be led by the KNU brigade (4) in Myeik-Dawei district.
The Noble Prince Company has cooperated with the KNU representing Sun and Rainbow Company. In December 2016, the KNU and Chinese Power China Company agreed to establish the industrial zone. However, the government has reduced the land area to more than 5,000 acres instead of the 6,676 acres of land proposed by the company, said U Soe Myint, Tanintharyi Region Advocate General.
