10 new air-conditioned train carriages, purchased by a loan from South Korea, arrived at Thilawa Port for the second time in Yangon, on January 7, according to reports.
10 air-conditioned rail carriages and spare parts arrived at the Jetty. They will be sent to the Myitnge train carriage factory.
The first batch of air-conditioned train carriages will run in Mandalay-Myitkyina railroad section in the early May.
The Myanma Railways (MR) under Ministry of Transport and Communications has planned to buy new 100 passenger train carriages with a US$ 45 million loan from EXIM Bank of South Korea and signed a contract with South korea-based Dawonsys Company on December 5, 2018.
