The small private airport in Matupie region in the southern Chin state is being implemented. They are trying to open it at the end of May, said Kaung Dee Yam, general manager of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
The small airport was launched at the end of 2017 and it cost US$ 1.3 million, according to reports.
The cost of the airport is being funded by MAF and it is built for the development of Chin state.
After the airport construction is completed, it will be submitted to the Department of Civil Aviation ( Myanmar) for permission to fly.
U Soe Htet, a cabinet member of the Chin state government, said the construction of the airport had been discussed with the state government. He added that the project is being conducted after it had been submitted to the Union Government.
Chin State’s first airport is being built in Falam township and is expected to open in June.
