A mysterious floating island has been discovered in the North East of Argentina. It is perfectly circular, and moves almost magically around an axis. These unusual characteristics have led to it being nicknamed “The Eye”. Intrigued by this strange formation, producer Sergio Neuspillerm is currently seeking funding to launch a scientific expedition aiming to demystify this astonishing island.
A little less than three years ago, while he was scanning through Google Maps looking for a location to film a documentary, Neuspillerm’s attention was grabbed by strange formation situated in the Parana Delta marshes, in the North East of Argentina. The formation in question was in fact an island surrounded by water that had formed in a strangely circular shape, earning it the title of “The Eye”.
“The Eye is a circle of land 118 meters in diameter, surrounded by a thin water channel”, explains Sergio Neuspillerm in a video he produced. “The two circles, formed by the water and the earth, are so perfect that it is hard to believe that the island is a natural phenomenon”, he adds. However, while he was studying the island in more detail, the Argentinian producer noticed by using the time control function on Google Earth that the island seemed to be turning on its own axis.
Having gone public with his discovery, the producer decided to go directly to the area to observe this strange phenomenon with his own eyes, and to try and find a rational explanation. In order to make the most of his expedition, he brought two specialists along with him: Richard Petroni, a hydraulic and civil engineer from New York, and Pablo Martinez, a tech expert. However, what they observed on site only served to intensify the mystery. “The area is incredible and extremely strange”, the producer says, according to the Maxisciences website. “We have discovered that the water is incredibly clear and cold, which is unheard of in this area”. The group of explorers also completed a summary report of the island’s physical characteristics. “The base is hard in comparison with the swamps that surround it and the part that is floating in the centre. We don’t know why, but it floats”, explains Neuspillerm.
Although observations are on hold for the moment, the producer has not given up hope on one day uncovering the mystery of this island.
Although certain internet users see it as a paranormal phenomenon, going as far as to claim that this is not the first time such phenomena have been observed in the region, others have put forward more rational theories.
