Investments Are Being Invited For the Development Of Sagaing Region
Dr. Myint Naing, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region invited the entrepreneurs to invest in many uncultivated land and acres of reclaimed land in Sagaing Region.
The Chief Minister said about the business opportunities and challenges in Sagaing Region at the CEO Conference held on May 11 at Novotel Hotel, Yangon.
“We renovate the uncultivated lands and have distributed those for the farm less people. Some organizations and companies acquired the numerous lands but they have not implemented practically. So, those lands were reclaimed by the government,” said Chief Minister Dr.Myint Naing.
In addition, Sagaing Region produces jade, amber, blue vitriol, copper, nickel, gold, coal and petroleum and so on. Therefore, the local and international entrepreneurs can invest in such sectors.
Despite the Sagaing Region has many potential, the local residents are very tired of their livelihood and the government’s action in Sagaing Region is still slow, he said.
So, concerted efforts are needed to mainly develop three major sectors: agricultural sector, transport and electricity sector and the tourism sector.
In Sagaing Region, there are more than 5.3 million populations (10.3 percent of Myanmar’s total population). In addition, Sagaing Region is called as the granary of Myanmar due to its main crops such as paddy, beans and oilseeds crops. In the other side, Sagaing Region is the second largest region in Myanmar.
