Access of Local Investment to Housing Sector Reachs K 1,500 Billion In 2017-18 Fiscal Year
During the 2017-18 fiscal year, the local businessmen has invested most in housing and construction sector. More than 37 percent of all local investment amounts has accessed to the housing and construction sector, according to the datas of Myanmar Investment Commission.
The total investment amount is K 3,978 billion and of them, K 1,500 billion is from the housing sector.
The second largest investment sector is the transport sector with more than 13 percent of toal investment amount.
“The current demand for housings is till high but the price is also important to be affordable by most customers. And then, the market will not run well without the buyers,” construction owner U Myint said Until March 31, 2017, the local businessmen have invested K 2,760 billion in the housings sector. As a result, the largest investment sectors in housing sector, manufacturing sector and transportation sector.
A population of 1.8 million in Myanmar still has housing need and the highest demand is Yangon Region, according to the estimation by the Department of Urban and Housing Development.
In 2040, the housing demand will increase up to 4.8 million. Therefore, housing projects such as Yangon Myothit project and other Myothit projects as well as special economic zone projects are going to be implemented to fulfill the housing demand.
