Yangon Myothit Projects and Other Projects To Be Implemented in 2018

During 2018, the Yangon Myothit project and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will be implemented for the development of west bank of Yangon River, U Phyo Min Thein,
Chief Minister of Yangon Region said at the Myanmar Infrastructure Summit 2018 held on March 20.

At the summit, Daw Khine Moe Nyunt, Deputy Director of the Yangon City Development explained about Yangon Urban Development Master Plan & Priority Projects including Myothit projects.

Accordign to the Yangon Urban Development Master Plan & Priority Projects, the Myothit Projects will be implemented in Kyimyindaing Township, Dala Township and East Dagon Twonships. The project area of Kyimyindaing and Twante Myothit project is 250 acres, the project area of east Dagon Myothit project is 250 acres and the area of Dala Myothit project is 125 acres respectively.

The Myothit project in the west bank of Yangon River comprises not only the city areas but also special economic zone project and a airport project, according to the explanation of Daw Khine Moe Nyunt.

Yangon’s population is more than 5 million people in accordance with 2014 census and it will increased by up to 10 million in the next 2040. For that reason, it has been aimed to implement the Yangon Urban Projects.

In addition, to implement the Central Business District and to create Sub Center Development is the necessary projects of the Yangon Urban Development Master Plan & Priority Projects.

The five places: Mindama, Thilawa, Yankin, Dagon Myothit and Dagon Seikkan are identified to create such areas.

On 3 acres of land in Mindama, the Trade Center, Financial and Administrative Buildings are going to be constructed.

On 300 acres of land in Thilawa, the Research and Development Activities, Transport of Goods Operations and IT Operations will be undertaken.

On 200 acres of land in Yankin, the Commercial Center and Tourism-based Center is going to be implemented.

Dagon Myothit project includes Sports and Recreation Areas, Research and Development Activities.

Dagon Seikkan Project covers the Recreation Areas, Playgrounds and Inland Ports.

The projects areas will be connected with the Myothit and the train station projects will be connected with the industrial sites and logistics sites.

The railway station projects cover seven main railway stations surrounded the Yangon’s municipal areas. They are Yangon Railway Station, Kyimyindaing Railway Station, Mahlwagone Railway Station, Insien Railway Station, Yaygu Railway Station, Mingalardon Railway Station and Danyingone Railway Station.

These seven stations will be connected to Thilawa SEZ, East Dagon Industrial Zone, Twante Industrial Zone and Hlegu Industrial Zone as well as current industrial zones.

The projects will be implemented as short-term and long-term projects until 2040.

More than 40 projects are earmarked as the priority projects and the budget amount for the priority projects is over US$ 2 billion.

Kyiemyindaing Myothit project is one of the priority projects but Dala Myothit project and Dala SEZ are not.

But, the Chief Minister firmly said to implement the Myothit project and SEZ project on the west bank of Yangon River.
