Yangon Myothi (New Town) Project To Be Managed By Yangon Regional Government
Yangon Myothit (New Town) project has been approved by Hluttaw to implement on the other side of Yangon River near Kyimyindine Township. The project will be implemented by the management of Yangon Regional Government, Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein said.
The project has been also approved in the first term of Hluttaw and now it is the second term of Hluttaw. If the project is not concurred, it can be discussed at the second term of Hluttaw, U Phyo Min Thein said at the meeting of Vice President and the business entrepreneurs held on 1st February in Yangon.
“ We can discuss about the project in Hluttaw. This project is one of our continuous processed to be implemented,” U Phyo Min Thein said.
The project has been discussed three times in the last term Hluttaw and it has been approved by Pyi Htaung Su Hluttaw. In addition, the land confiscation has been allowed, he said.
“ We begin to implement Yangon Myothit (New Town) Project,” Chief Minister said.
Some regional representatives of Hluttaw criticized about the project in the last year to verify the investments systematically by the government.
Moreover, Yangon Regional Government was criticized by some Hluttaw Representatives as they did not present Eco Green City Housing Project which will build on 1400 acres of land in Hlegu in detail.
As part of the Yangon Myothit (New Town) Project, low-cost housing project for the squatters, economic buildings will be built, Chief Minister said. The project could solve the squatting problems, the employed problems, the electricity problems and the traffic blocking problems as well as land expensive problems, said Daw Ni Lar Kyaw, Minister of Electricity, Industry and Transportation Ministry.
