My boyfriend agrees to marriage after my parents offer house loan

We met three months ago through social media. He is a 25-year-old IT graduate from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and has been working for one and a half years.

His regular salary exceeds VND20 million (US$797), and he can earn nearly VND10 million more from external projects.

Considering him ambitious and serious, I introduced him to my parents, with marriage in mind.

During his first visit, he gifted my mother VND3 million earrings and brought expensive fruits.

My mother was impressed by his mature and charming manner of speaking and suggested we could marry by year’s end, as the following year would be inauspicious for my zodiac sign.

I relayed to him that if finances were an issue, my parents were willing to help.

He immediately agreed, despite having previously told me that he was hesitant about marriage due to his career plans and desire to buy a house for us without financial help.

However, he was non-committal about when our parents should meet to discuss the wedding, suggesting he would follow my family’s lead.

I still contemplate, since although we are compatible, he has limited time for me.

Previously, he messaged me a few times daily, but now, responses can take two days.

We mainly talk during our weekly meetings, usually for less than two hours.

Adding to the negative feelings I have, his meeting cancellations have increased, with him citing new business commitments.

When I expressed feeling neglected, he explained that his lack of family support in his hometown compels him to work harder for our future.

Recently, he agreed to a dinner at my home to discuss our wedding, promising to attend "even if the sky fell." However, severe rain in Hanoi prompted my mother to suggest postponing the meeting, and he accepted without protest.

I confronted him for not showing up despite his promise, highlighting his lack of communication and effort. He did not respond to my message.

Also, I usually initiate our texts and plan our dates, during which he seems distracted and unengaged. While he prefers to express affection through actions, I increasingly feel sidelined.

I wonder if his busyness is truly unavoidable or if I am simply not a priority to him.
