Norian, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts – located around 25 miles from Boston – came forward to collect his prize on January 3, per Mass Live.
He opted to receive his prize as a lump sum of $1.2 million.
Norian said he might use his winnings to refurbish his kitchen.
The odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1 in 7 million, according to Mass Lottery.
Players must choose six numbers between 1 and 44 or have a computer select them.
It costs $2 to play the Megabucks and the prizes range from $4 to the jackpot.
The odds of winning any prize are one in 39.3. The current jackpot stands at $700,000 and if there is a winner, they will pocket an estimated $480,000.
Draws take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
The U.S. Sun reported how Michael Piers, from Massachusetts, took home $650,000 after winning $1 million.
Officials revealed he planned to invest some of his winnings.
Gamblers who win millions often face the choice of how they want to receive their prize.
Taking the lump sum allows winners to invest their new fortune.
The other option is the annuity, which means winners receive smaller chunks over 20 to 30 years.
