A new buyer has nabbed a piece of rock-and-roll history — and fascinating piece of real estate — in Arlington.
The hilltop home once owned by the late heavy metal drummer Vinnie Paul, co-founder of the band Pantera, sold this week.
Realtor Chris Johnston, co-owner of Texas Best Home Buyers, said interest in the home skyrocketed after The Dallas Morning News published an article about the property earlier this month.
The buyer wants to remain anonymous, Johnston said, adding that the home sold for a little under the asking price of $750,000. He declined to give the exact price tag.
Paul himself designed the 3,784-square-foot home, which sits on 1.5 acres in Arlington and offers expansive views of Arlington, downtown Fort Worth and Las Colinas.
Built in 1995, the gated house features distinctive 30-foot barrel ceilings in the main living rooms, which look like silos from the outside. It also includes a secret room accessible through a bookshelf, two game rooms, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a vintage-style black-and-white kitchen.
Outside is a large swimming pool, spa and sauna. Two fire pits flank a waterfall.
Paul and his brother, Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott, founded heavy metal band Pantera in Arlington in 1981. The band became one of the nation’s most popular heavy metal groups of the 1990s.

“Dimebag” was shot and killed onstage in Ohio in 2004 by a 25-year-old man upset about Pantera’s breakup the previous year.
The Home Of Late Pantera Drummer Vinnie Paul Has Been Demolished
The Arlington, Texas home that once belonged to late Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul has been demolished only weeks after it was sold to an anonymous buyer.
Paul hosted many legendary metal parties in the postmodern abode, which was a lasting monument to his legacy. The news of its demolition has hit Pantera fans and associates hard.
News of the property’s demolition comes after the recent announcement of a Vinnie Paul estate auction.
Over 700 items are currently up for auction, including several drum kits played by Paul in Pantera, Damageplan, and Hellyeah; a collection of guitars (including a vintage Dimebag Darrell Washburn); slot machines; record awards; clothing; artwork; and a huge collection of sports memorabilia, as Vinnie loved hockey, football, and baseball.
Earlier this year, Attila frontman Chris Fronzak and Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows shared interest in buying Paul’s home; come this past February however, the Arlington, Texas home of Vinnie Paul was sold to an unknown buyer.
