Pop megastar Rihanna received a good deal of criticism for her performance during Sunday’s NFL Superbowl Halftime Show, but it was what she was wearing during the performance that has led to outcry from those opposed to Myanmar’s brutal military junta. Rihanna’s halftime show drew 118.7 million viewers, while the game itself drew 113 million viewers.
The activist group “Justice for Myanmar” called out Rihanna in a Twitter thread yesterday noting that the popstar had been wearing a Burmese ruby ring worth $1 million from New York City’s Bayco Jewels, which sells a number of pieces prominently featuring gems from Myanmar.
According to Bayco, the ring Rihanna was wearing features “a rare natural, unheated 19.47-carat sugarloaf cabochon Burma Ruby”.
Myanmar is one of the top sources of precious stones in the world and is particularly well known for the quality of its rubies. Clare Hammond, senior Myanmar campaigner at Global Witness, said in a statement. “These gemstones are sold as symbols of human connection and affection, yet the supply chain is steeped in corruption and horrific human rights abuses.” ..my prayers are with you #myanmar..

The price tag is a real eye-popper -- we're told she spent $85,000/night to stay here, and booked it for 6 nights ahead of the game ... so, about $510K more or less.
As for the crib where the multi-billionaire and her fam hunkered down ... well, it's a beaut. The house has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms over a sprawling 6,434 square feet.

It's a one-story pad, but it feels palatial when you take a peek inside.
For starters, there are 2 living rooms, as well as an open kitchen and accompanying walk-in wine cellar. There's also a private gym nook, and a separate office as well ... lots of room to spread out.

There's even more to marvel at outside -- in addition to the gorgeous courtyard seen out front, the backyard has extra perks ... like a huge pool with built-in waterfall, a pickle ball court, a bar area, big ol' barbecue grill, a freaking putting green and a bocce ball court!

Definitely a rental fit for a king or, in this case, a queen. Nothing less for Ri. .. Rihanna Rented an $85,000-Per-Night Mansion for the Super Bowl Between Rihanna running her billion-dollar beauty empire, giving birth for the first time ten months ago, and breaking the internet with her Superbowl LVII performance and second pregnancy announcement, it’s safe to call her the Queen of Everything these days.
For the week leading up to her now iconic Superbowl performance, Rihanna of course stayed in Arizona where the biggest football game of the year was held. According to sources who spoke to TMZ, the singer rented a massive manse in a town called Paradise Valley and it’s precisely the kind of place we’d expect RiRi to rest her feet.
The Savage X Fenty creator and her entourage rented a five-bedroom, five-bathroom Spanish-inspired mansion at a cost of $85,000 a night. That’s about $510,000 in total for the billionaire’s six-night stay. There was ample room for the makeup mogul and her crew, as the desert property is spread out over 6,434 square feet.
A sprawling manicured front lawn with a red brick footpath leads to the entrance of the house. Once inside, apart from a mix of very high coffered and beamed ceilings, along with a few Spanish-style archways, the decor is thoroughly modern.
The palette is full of calming neutrals like white walls and ceilings, and blond hardwood floors throughout most of the house. A large formal living room boasts a fireplace and a piano, while a more laid-back family room shares space with an office area. A separate study with built-in shelving sits elsewhere in the house.
