It’s no illusion: David Copperfield has found himself a new desert oasis.
The world-renowned magician and his fiancée, Chloe Gosselin, recently spent $17.55 million in a contemporary estate nestled in a gated community in the Las Vegas neighborhood of Summerlin, shattering the record for highest price ever paid for a Sin City spread.
Offering 31,000 square feet of living space, the steel-and-concrete construction sits on 1.58 acres and contains a total of eight bedrooms and nine baths.
The 18,600-square-foot main residence features a wine cellar, a movie theater, a full-service spa, three antique arcade exhibit rooms, a golf simulator, and a nightclub with a bar and dance floor.
The four-story house also boasts a roof deck,an interior Zen garden, and a 6,177-square-foot underground garage with a detailing room.
Guest quarters and a four-edged infinity pool surrounded by tropical landscaping also reside on the grounds.
The couple purchased the property—designed by Scottsdale-based Swaback Partners—from healthcare executive Kevin Hooks, who built the estate in 2005 after acquiring the land for $2.575 million. Ivan Sher of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties represented both buyer and seller, who inked the off-market deal a few weeks after meeting.
Completed in 2011, the home is located a half-hour drive away from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, where Copperfield is currently in residence.
No. 20 on Forbes’ 2016 list of highest-paid celebrities with $64 million in earnings, the 59-year-old—who coproduced the film Now You See Me 2—also owns a four-story penthouse in Manhattan; Musha Cay at Copperfield Bay, an archipelago of 11 Bahamian islands; and, unsurprisingly, the world’s largest collection of magical artifacts.
His incredible bag of tricks include making the Statue of Liberty disappear, escaping from Alcatraz—and of course, flying.
