The home, in the city’s One Wall Centre, is on the 36th floor
Listing of the Day
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Price: C$8.28 million (US$6.52 million)
This five-bedroom, seven-bathroom downtown Vancouver condo once belonged to movie action star Jean-Claude Van Damme.
The “Muscles from Brussels,” as he’s known, was one of the original buyers when the building, One Wall Tower at the Wall Centre, was built in 2002. “He combined three units, designed the home how he really wanted it to look, and lived here a few years,” said Boris Yip of Faith Wilson/Christie’s International Real Estate, the listing agent.
With 4,674 square feet on one level, the 36th-floor unit offers city, ocean and mountain views. The home opens to a bright, airy great room with floor-to-ceiling windows providing skyline vistas.
An ambient electric fireplace, open on two sides, separates living and dining areas. Mr. Van Damme “worked with a designer, so every room is easily distinguished,” Mr. Yip said. “You have large, easily defined principal rooms.
Off the great room, the kitchen boasts a Viking refrigerator and a built-in Viking Ultraline oven, microwave and range. A separate entrance to the kitchen allows private chefs or caterers to arrive discreetly. Custom cabinetry conceals extensive storage and pantries.
The home features a second living room “with a different feel,” Mr. Yip said, including a bar, media area and ocean views. “It’s a really beautiful water view, looking north to English Bay,” he said.
The window provides a birds’-eye perch for Vancouver’s annual fireworks festival in July, which takes place near English Bay. “Every year, the owners would host family and friends to watch—you get a perfect view,” Mr. Yip said.
The principal bedroom “is a giant bedroom suite,” Mr. Yip said, with walk-in closets, a gas fireplace with marble mantle and a bathroom in gold-veined marble.
With dual sinks, a separate tub and a steam shower, “the bathroom has a spa-oasis kind of feel,” he added.
Along with four other bedrooms, the apartment’s bathrooms each feature different decor schemes, including a colorful mosaic of glass tiles in one and wood paneling in another. The home also features a dedicated office with built-in bookshelves and storage.
