A small California mountain town has become a popular place to visit after setting itself apart from other neighboring tourist hotspots. Idyllwild, which is located in the San Jacinto Mountains around two hours from Los Angeles and boasts a population of just 4,000 people, has no ski resort, no Starbucks and no stoplights, SFGate reported. Chris Perreault, a a 30-year resident and volunteer with the Idyllwild Area Historical Society, told the outlet: 'I very much think that we like it that way. We like being little. We like being different. We like not being huge.' But what is even more unusual about the town is that it is governed by a young golden retriever. Maximus Mighty-Dog Mueller...

Do you think New York’s filthy sidewalks, gross subway cars and rat infestations make it America’s dirtiest city? You’re in for quite a surprise. A recent study by LawnStarter has crowned Houston, Texas, as the nation’s dirtiest city — bumping Newark, New Jersey from the top spot. New York City, despite its notorious grime, didn’t even crack the top 10. It landed in 12th place. While the Big Apple dodged the title of dirtiest, it’s still grappling with its trash and pest problems. (The dirtiest city in America is not exactly what you would expect it to be.NY Post composite) (A recent study found that Houston currently...

A huge and beautiful country located in north-central Asia is "99.7 percent empty" due to its low population density relative to its vast land area. Mongolia is a landlocked country mainly covered by sparsely populated grasslands and semi-desert areas. In the past, Mongolia was the centre of a vast empire led by Genghis Khan, which extended into Europe. One-third of people live in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, while about 40 percent of the workforce are nomads who herd animals in the vast grasslands. (Camel riding in the breathtaking Gobi desert. In 2018, my friend sent me a listing for Cerro Gordo, an abandoned mining town in California. "This might be your next project," he joked. The idea of a remote town in the American West was very alluring to me. It reminded me of the old TV westerns my grandfather watched every day. I was running a pretty popular bed and breakfast in Austin, but it felt like I was just searching for something to shake me up from the routine monotony. Buying this ghost town has done that. It cost $1.4 million — more than half was a loan from a hard money lender. The rest was mostly split between my friend and me, but a few other friends also chipped in. On the surface, you understand it's going to...

After more than a decade of ownership, former Uzbek diplomat Lola Karimova Tillyaeva has sold her Beverly Hills house for about $36 million, making it the 90210’s biggest transaction of the year—so far. The Wall Street Journal first reported the big deal, which was inked off-market earlier this week. The buyer’s name has not yet been revealed, and records do not yet reveal exactly how much they paid. Tillyaeva, 45, is the glamorous and jet-setting daughter of the late politician Islam Karimov, the autocratic president who ruled Uzbekistan for some 30 years, until his 2016 death. She bought the 90210 mega-mansion—it reportedly boasts some 48,000 square feet of...

Former boy wonder Blake Ross, 38, who co-founded the web browser Mozilla Firefox when he was just a teenager, is the latest boldface buyer at the Renzo Piano-designed 565 Broome St. condo in Soho. Ross, who has written with grace and humor about his condition of aphantasia — which means he can’t “see” anything in his mind’s eye and grew up thinking no one else could either — paid $8.25 million for the three-bedroom, 3½-bath condo, Gimme Shelter has learned. At 2,512 square feet, the 24th-floor residence comes with city skyline and Hudson River views. It had been on the market for $8.5 million, down from its $8.9 million asking price in...
