Foreign investment enters Myanmar higher than locals

Foreign direct investment in Myanmar was far greater than the number of businesses and investments of Myanmar citizens in Myanmar, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) said at the press conference on February 17.

Within four months to January in the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the average number and amount of foreign direct investments in Myanmar are higher than Myanmar citizen investment. The total of net foreign investments are $ more than 1.9 billion and has averaged 0.5 billion (about $ 500 million) per month, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) said.

This fiscal year could be met with the $ 5.8 billion which is the target of Myanmar Investment Promotion Plan (MIPP), U Thant Sin Lwin said.
