Jimmy Choo Co-Founder Tamara Mellon Sells Manhattan Apartment for $18.8M

Fashion designer Tamara Mellon has parted with her West Village apartment, selling it earlier this month for $18.8 million, according to property records.

The 52-year-old co-founder of luxury shoe brand Jimmy Choo paid $18.35 million in 2016 for the condo at The Greenwich Lane—a five-building complex with amenities including a swimming pool and golf simulator—records show.

The three-bedroom Manhattan apartment spans close to 4,000 square feet and has entertainment areas, an eat-in kitchen and high ceilings throughout, according to the listing with Corcoran’s Carrie Chiang and Aloysius Carlos.

Ms. Chiang and Mr. Carlos did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.

It also has more than 1,200 square feet of private outdoor space with city views, one of the few residences in the building to have them, according to the listing.

It had been on the market since August with an asking price of $19.8 million.

The buyer of the condo was listed as a limited liability company in the Dec. 18 sale.

The transaction is indicative of the uptick Manhattan’s luxury market has been experiencing over the last few weeks as positive economic conditions drive high-end home buying and pull the borough out of its slump.

Stagnant market conditions had taken hold of Manhattan's luxury real estate market earlier this year, a result of a new progressive mansion tax, which hiked the cost of buying a New York City home over $2 million and halted high-cost home sales.
