The Beverly Hills mansion that was owned by Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt in the early 2000s had $4.5 million trimmed from its price tag Tuesday, bringing its ask down to $44.5 million.
The gated Tudor-style estate has a history of celebrity ownership beyond the duo, right back to its construction in 1934 for the Academy Award-winning actor Fredric March, famed for his roles in “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” (1931) and “The Best Years of Our Lives” (1946).
Spanning more than 11,000 square feet, the property is fitted with a bar room with an original fireplace that converts into a projector room, a gym, a pool, a tennis court and an outdoor living area with a fireplace, according to the listing with Susan Smith of Hilton & Hyland, who declined to comment.
Ms. Aniston, 50, and Mr. Pitt, 55, paid $12.5 million for the home in 2001 using a trust, records with PropertyShark show.
They spent several years remodeling the home, Ms. Smith told Mansion Global previously, which included the addition of the home’s multimillion-dollar tennis court pavilion and guest house. But despite their renovations, the home’s architectural integrity remains and the floorplan is the same as when it was built in the 1930s, though it has been modernized, Ms. Smith said when it listed in May asking $49 million.
The current owner, hedge funder Jonathan Brooks, purchased the home from the former celebrity power couple in 2006, a year after their divorce.
Mr. Brooks, who could not be reached for comment, paid $22.5 million, records show. The Los Angeles Times first reported the discount.
