The British singer was once asking nearly $9 million for home in West Hollywood
Spice Girl Mel B’s airy, four-story mansion in West Hollywood is back on the market asking $5.9 million.
The singer, who also goes by her given name Melanie Brown, and her ex-husband, filmmaker Stephen Belafonte, have jointly owned the house for going on five years, snapping it up in 2014 for $4.34 million, according to property records.
The high-tech, contemporary home features lofty ceiling heights and an integrated smart home system through which residents can control things like window shades, lighting and music from their phones or touch control panels around the house.
"It’s a fully amenitized, total smart home," said listing agent Ben Belack of the Agency. You can even ignite the fireplaces remotely, according to the listing.
There’s also techy security features, including multiple so-called "panic buttons" around the house that call the police.
Ms. Brown, 43, who’s gearing up for her role as Scary Spice in the first Spice Girls reunion tour in a decade beginning in May, even has her own recording studio in the house.
She and Mr. Belafonte, also 43, put the home through a major renovation in 2016, including plumbing, electrical and HVAC upgrades, according the listing description and building permits from that time. The owners could not be reached for comment.
The modern interiors include sleek wood paneling, built-ins and white marble accents. There’s also a home theater and sprawling master suite that spans the entire top floor.
The owners originally put it on the market amid their divorce in 2017, asking nearly $9 million for the four-bedroom home, and have gradually lowered the price since then. Mr. Belack said he expects the home is now correctly priced for the market. The home hit the market again on Thursday.
Mr. Belack is listing the home with Blair Chang, also of the Agency, and Lucy Nargizyan of Dilbeck Real Estate.
