A MILLIONAIRE has told the story of how he made money by starting his own business.
A man who was riddled with £50k worth of debt has completely transformed his life.
Rob Moore, from Peterborough, was working part-time at a pub when he decided to pursue a new venture.
Over the past decade, he’s managed to make millions of pounds and now co-owns and manages 700 properties.
In his 20s, Rob felt hopeless as he struggled to support himself financially.
He remembered: “It was like I couldn’t see a future where I wouldn’t have to constantly worry about money.
“I couldn’t get away from it. Everywhere I went and everything I did, I had the worry of not being able to afford it and getting into more debt if I did spend even a small amount of money. “My girlfriend at the time had to pay for everything for both of us, and that made me feel shame and worthlessness.”
While working unsociable hours at a pub, the bar man dreamed of living life as an artist.
When he was pursuing this path, he met his now business partner Mark Homer, who suggested a change of career.
After a lot of persuasion, Rob was convinced to join forces to create a property empire.
As they built up their portfolio of houses, the dynamic duo worked from their kitchen table.
The successful businessman recalled: “In January 2007, we incorporated Progressive Property and started it in my tiny two bed house literally on the kitchen table.
“After learning on the job, we started buying properties for ourselves. We never intended to build the UK’s largest property training business, we just wanted to buy and rent out properties and get residual rental income.
“We bought 20 in year one and another 30 in year two, mostly with Mark’s, friends and family money, as I didn’t have any.
“We split the portfolio 50/50, and sometimes with a 3rd member. this helped us grow much quicker, as it would have taken decades to build a portfolio of 50 properties if we had to save all the deposits.”
This drummed up more business and made buying and selling much easier.
Rob and Mark made even more income from writing books on property and being booked to give their expert opinions at talks and conferences.
Today, the pair make money through Joint Ventures, where partners invest time and effort in return for a 50/50 split of ownership and profits.
Rob’s confidence has soared since his business reached success. His company now turns over millions, juggling 700 properties and around 70 staff.
The dad-of-two said: “My life is totally different. I think I am the same person, still with depressive and arty tendencies, but with better skills and knowledge in property and business. “Property pays residual income and so you are able to work less, travel more and enjoy the things that make you happy.
“I was able to get my pilots license, give back by running my podcast without charging for it, and you could say I get to do what I love and love what I do, and merge my passion with my profession.”
In 2017, the millionaire set up the Rob Moore foundation to help young and underprivileged people get better education around money and business.
He revealed: “People say money doesn’t make you happy, I say it does! I have had both extremes; poverty and millions, so I have been able to test how both feel! “I feel very grateful to be able to have more choices now, and to be able to provide better for my family and community.
“It has been an amazing, fun journey. I wouldn’t change anything about it. I have made mistakes too. I like to think I am constantly learning.
“Property has been very good, and very forgiving to me, I just wish I had started earlier when I had the chance. But at 39 I can’t complain too much.
"Whist I always wanted to be successful, I don’t think I really believed I could be, so I do often pinch myself.”

1. When others share their success stories it can mean a lot of things (genuine success, ego trip, not the full story, a breakthrough from them, they really want to help, they are only giving you the result & not the 'down-n-dirty process, they want to post more, get noticed, etc), so be aware of what YOU make it mean & your internal dialogue
2. It doesn't really matter what anyone else is doing, it matters to use all the tools you can to help yourself & others equally (so use for inspiration & to learn only)
3. They never give the full story, because no one can. If you want them to 'keep it real', then ask them
4. ALL success has challenge. Most people think in extremes (all roses, all thorns), the reality is usually a mix of both Here are some of our 'thorns' (& a few roses):
