A Committee Is Formed To Undertake Construction, Industry, Electricity and Energy Sectors’ Development
The Amyotha Hluttaw formed a construction, industry, electricity and energy affairs committee on Wednesday for the development of construction sector and to ensure adequate distribution of electricity to the whole country.
The committee comprises 15 MPs and was formed at the Amyotha Hluttaw meeting held on Wednesday.
The committee is chaired by U Saw Moe Myint, MP for Karen State constituency 1 and U Mya Min Swe, MP for Magwe Region constituency 9 is the secretary of the committee.
“The construction sector has an issue with build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects. In addition, we have to upgrade the roads in accordance with the international standard,” said U Saw Moe Myint, Chairman of the committee.
Moreover, the buildings within the Yangon City Development areas will be supervised by the registered engineers and architects.
The committee’s duties and responsibilities are to improve social-economic sector of the urban and rural public, to build and upgrade modern roads and bridges and to implement public housings.
In addition, the committee’s other responsibilities are to implement energy sector’s development, to become involved by the private companies in electricity distribution activities and to produce more valuable products by the domestic natural resources.
The committee is valid for one year, and then it will be reviewed to amend the committee’s name and to replace the committee’s members with the appropriate duties.
