A woman in China has invented a clever and straightforward method using a rope and a large piece of cloth to create a tent over her hotel bed, aiming to shield herself from potential hidden cameras.
The woman, known by her surname Dang and hailing from Luoyang in central Henan province, recently shared a video demonstrating how to construct a makeshift tent to protect her hotel room bed.
However, she did not disclose the name of the hotel or its location.
“I have read many reports about hotel guests being surveilled by spy cameras. It seems nearly impossible to safeguard ourselves from prying eyes. This deeply concerns me,” Dang shared with the Yangcheng Evening News.
She explained that her initial idea was to buy a tent to place on the bed while travelling and staying in hotels. However, she dismissed this option due to the high cost of tents and the limited space they provide.
Instead, Dang turned to a large dust sheet - typically meant to cover furniture - and a long piece of rope.

“You can tie the rope to a high point, such as cabinet handles, curtain tracks, or wall hooks. By hanging the dustcloth on the rope and securing it with the bed’s edge, you can create a tent since the fabric is quite lightweight,” Dang elaborated.
She further added: “This method is simple. The materials required are inexpensive, and it yields quite satisfactory results.”
Her video showed the tent’s dimensions, measuring 1.7 metres tall, 2 metres long, and 2 metres wide.Lllll
The report does not clarify whether Dang was travelling for leisure or business, nor does it indicate if she is a frequent traveller herself.
Incidents of hotel guests expressing outrage upon discovering hidden spy cameras in their rooms frequently trend across mainland social media.
