A massive 9,400-acre ranch that comes with 54 wind turbines, native pastures, and a variety of hunting options from whitetail deer to quail just went up for sale, listed by Layne Walker of Hall and Hall for $39 million.
Crooked Tree Ranch in Albany, Texas—not far from Abilene—can function both as a working ranch for cattle and as a passive way to generate income from wind power generation, and it has a sprawling 200-acre high-fenced recreational hunting area.
Beyond the main house is a spacious five-bedroom, three-bath guest home and even a modest manager's home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
At the entrance to the ranch, there's also an illuminated and automated gate proudly showcasing its name, along with over 10 miles of improved ranch roads.
And as if that wasn't enough, the compound also includes its very own fully equipped refrigerated meat processing room and a large walk-in cooler.
The wind turbines, one of the most unique features of this listing, were installed by the current owners 15 years ago to provide another income stream.
Other income sources for prospective owners are a cattle lease and even a possible mineral lease, according to the listing.
The ranch also has plenty of barns, working pens, a round pen, an arena, dog kennels, and a small office building. Water, which is hard to come by in this region of Texas, is easily available in Crooked Tree Ranch due to a water collection system.
The family has owned the ranch for over a quarter of a century and has carefully managed native pastures with minimal grazing, controlled burns, and attention to quail habitat.
