Mark Zuckerberg is embarking on his ‘most delicious’ endeavor yet: Raising beer-drinking cattle on his $100 million estate in Hawaii

Mark Zuckerberg since 2014 has been buying land on the island of Kauai, and now owns 1,400 acres.

Mark Zuckerberg has become a farmer, announcing he has bought a herd of cattle which he will feed with macadamia meal and beer - aiming 'to create some of the highest quality beef in the world.

The 39-year-old Facebook founder said he will raise the cattle on his ranch in Hawaii, feeding them the nuts for taste and protein, and the beer so the animals relax.

Zuckerberg - who has a net worth of $126.5billion- has since 2014 been buying up hundreds of acres on Kauai, and now owns 1,400 acres of beachfront land on the north shore worth an estimated $270 million.

'Started raising cattle at Ko'olau Ranch on Kauai, and my goal is to create some of the highest quality beef in the world,' he wrote on Instagram - which is owned by Facebook's parent company, Meta - on Tuesday.

'Each cow eats 5,000-10,000 pounds of food each year, so that's a lot of acres of macadamia trees. My daughters help plant the mac trees and take care of our different animals.'

One pound of macadamias costs $36 at Hawaii's Foodland supermarket chain, Fast Company reported - calculating if the tech entrepreneur were to stock up on feedstock during normal grocery trips, he'd be spending $180,000 to $360,000 a year for each cow.

He admitted the unusual diet for his cattle was an experiment, and said it was purely for fun.

And Zuckerberg said he was giving the cattle beer for their relaxation and enjoyment, so that the meat could taste better.

Zuckerberg spent $116 million in 2014 on 707 acres of land, which included most of Pila'a beach and Kahu'aina Plantation.

He bought a further 600 acres in April 2021 for $53 million.
