And a bizarre new entry might prompt you to do both. A balcony is up for sale in Kensington for a staggering £50,000. But if that wasn’t enough to shock you, apparently people are incredibly interested in the listing.

The balcony in question is located on the third floor of a building in the prestigious Stanhope Gardens, close to Gloucester Road tube station.

In terms of features, the astroturfed terrace covers 3.4m x 3.5m, is surrounded by metal railing, and overlooks a neighbouring mews street.

Rather than being part of a flat, the terrace is registered as a separate property with its own title and 110-year lease.

‘It’s a standalone terrace area – you come up some stairs, there’s a door to access it and there’s literally just a terrace there,’ says agent Glenn Jacobs at Next Home Ltd.

The current owner, based in east London, bought it as an investment and is looking to sell it on.

According to the listing, it might be of interest to ‘individuals looking to expand their property or business portfolio’ or a great place for ‘someone seeking a prestigious central London address, perfect for both business opportunities and recreational purposes’.

And, since it was listed, the agents have received more than 200 enquiries so far – with a ‘mixed pot’ of uses.

It’s also worth pointing out that in Stanhope Gardens, the average property costs £1,388,750, with one room going for an average of £1,006 per month, according to SpareRoom.
