More than a year after he first put it up for sale, Jeffree Star has finally succeeded in unloading his white mega-elephant of a mansion. Sprawled across 2.8 hilltop acres, and quite possibly the largest and most gaudily lavish home in all of Hidden Hills, the palatial spread sold for $16.7 million, records confirm.
While that’s less than the $20 million Star originally sought, it’s comfortably above the $14.6 million he paid for the place less than three years ago. It’s also considerably more than the veteran YouTuber’s last asking price of $15.5 million, a result of a last-minute bidding war, according to The Real Deal.
Speaking of the buyers, records show they are Pyae and Smile Maung, a married couple who originally hail from the country of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, where they own several businesses.
The Maungs, who also recently leased a contemporary mansion in the Beverly Hills area, previously long lived in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., where they still own a spacious house acquired back in 2015. Rancho Cucamonga, a suburban community in San Bernardino County, lies about 70 miles due east of Hidden Hills.
For his part, Star now lives primarily in Casper, Wyoming, where he’s expanded his 70-acre residence into a multimillion-dollar ranch operation that now spans more than 300 acres and includes 150 yaks, some of which Star uses for his new yak meat brand.
That Wyoming spread, while huge and luxe in its own way, is still certainly a big adjustment from the Hidden Hills compound — which is loaded with just about residential amenity ever invented. We’ve written about the Calabasas-area property on many prior occasions, so will keep the description brief here. But among the property’s numerous features are a two-story home gym, a glass elevator, underground garage for 10 cars, wine cellar with a tasting room, movie theater, two attached guesthouses, a detached “barn,” a kitchen with four or five refrigerators and a master suite bigger than most apartments.
Star made renovations during his relatively short ownership, replacing and upgrading all the electrical, HVAC and security systems, painting much of the house a glitzy white-and-gold scheme, and installing a new walk-in bank vault for his multimillion-dollar collection of jewelry and accessories. Aaron Kirman of Compass held the Hidden Hills listing; Yewmeng Lee of Global Homes Network repped the buyers.
