Unlike the predecessors, the current prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe resides at a privately-owned condominium in Tomigaya, Tokyo.

The prime minster of Japan is given 2 quarters – one being the Official Residence (kantei), where his duties are conducted, and the other being the Residential Quarter (kotei), a primary residence for living. These two building are located right next to each other (and connected) in Nagatacho, the Capitol of Japan.

Ever since Mr. Abe was sworn as the 96th prime minster of Japan, he has been commuting from his mother-owned condominium with a reason quote, “I can rest better here.”

The house of prime minister, is named Tomigaya Heim (built in 1999) and it is located in a quiet neighborhood of between Shibuya and Shijnjuku. From the residence, it is 15 minutes drive to the diet building.

Mr. Abe resides in a duplex unit with 498.32SQM.

Interestingly, the same floor unit is now available for rent. It is 152.06SQM, 3 bedroom unit with an offering price of JPY 580,000 (USD 4,870)/month.

Shinzo Abe (安倍 晋三, Abe Shinzō, pronounced [abe ɕindzoː]; 21 September 1954 – 8 July 2022) was a Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan and President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) from 2006 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2020.

He was the longest-serving prime minister in Japanese history. Abe also served as Chief Cabinet Secretary from 2005 to 2006 under Junichiro Koizumi and was briefly opposition leader in 2012.

Abe was born into a prominent political family in Tokyo and was the grandson of Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi.

Abe married Akie Matsuzaki, a socialite and former radio disc jockey, in 1987. She is the daughter of the president of Morinaga, a chocolate manufacturer. She is popularly known as the "domestic opposition party" due to her outspoken views, which often contradicted her husband's.

On 8 July 2022, Abe was shot while delivering a campaign speech in Nara.[326][327][19] He was supporting fellow LDP party member Kei Satō for the House of Councillors election.[328]

The assassin used a homemade firearm which fired two shots, the first shot missed and prompted Abe to turn around, at which point a second shot was fired, hitting Abe in the neck and chest area.

He was struck fatally in the heart.[329][330][331] A 41-year-old man named Tetsuya Yamagami, a former JMSDF sailor who served for three years from 2002 to 2005, was arrested following the shooting and later confessed to local police.[332][333] Yamagami stated that he held a grudge against the Unification Church[334][335][336] and shot Abe because he believed that "the religious group and Abe were connected."[337][338][339] Yamagami said he resented the fact that his mother was brainwashed by the religious group and went bankrupt.

He also stated that he killed Abe because he believed the former prime minister was the one who spread the religion to Japan.[340][341] Yamagami said that he "didn't have a grudge against Abe's political beliefs."[337]

Abe was rushed to the Nara Medical University Hospital in Kashihara, where he was pronounced dead at 17:03 JST.[328][342] Prior to his arrival at the hospital, Abe had already shown no vital signs. Despite a transfusion of 100 units of blood, the blood loss was too great and attempts to resuscitate Abe failed.

In response to the shooting and his subsequent passing, numerous present and former world leaders expressed their sympathies and support for Abe.
