The Yangon City Development Committee said the eight state-owned markets in Yangon will be upgraded through the Market Operator System.
Local, foreign and partner companies that want to do the project can submit their proposal starting from April 21, according to the Yangon City Development Committee.
These markets are located in Pabedan, Thingangyun, South Okkalapa, Dagon Myothit (South), Hlaing and Shwepyithar markets.
They are Bogyoke Aung San Market and Bogyoke New Market in Pabedan township, Nga Moe Yeik market in Thingangyun township, Thiri Myinthar Market in South Okkalapa township, Kaytumate Market in Dagon Myothit (South) township, Hlaing Market and Hlaing Yadanar Market in Hlaing Township. Thiri Marlar Market in Shwepyithar township.
The relevant company will be fully responsible for the management and marketing of the market by implementing the Market Operator system, according to the joint Secretary U Than of the Yangon City Development Committee. The twenty one markets in Yangon will be upgraded with the joint venture of public private partnership-ppp system, said U Than, the joint Secretary of the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).
The current Market designs are not up to par and the products are mixed. The markets will be upgraded that buyers can buy the products in one stop service with the price of international standard.
