More than 30 marquees for Yangon water festival scheduled to erect

Although there are no applicants for Yangon Water Festival pandals ( marquee ) in this year, the number of pandals will be granted as last year, Yangon Mayor U Maung Maung Soe said.

He added that the exact number of permits in line with the rules is the same as last year, no more than last year. The commercial water festival (Thingyan) pandals and Walking Thingyan were allowed last year.

The Yangon City Development Committee has announced that it has planned the locations of Yangon Thingyan pandals as last year and applicants can now start to apply for Yangon Thingyan pandals this year.

Applicants can apply for 34 pandal locations by the deadline March 25 and YCDC is planning to issue permits at the end of March. Last year, more than 100 small and large pandals were allowed in Yangon water festival (Thingyan).
