The Nationwide (86) Cyclone Shelters To Be Build During This Year
The nationwide (86) cyclone-proof shelters will be built in this year, said Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of the Department of Relief and Resettlement.
U Aung Kyaw Zan, Pyithu Hluttaw Representative of Pauttaw Township Constituency asked that if there is plan to built (3) cyclone shelters in the seaside lowland region at the south part of Pauttaw Township.
The (86) cyclone shelters will be built in Ayarwady Region, Rakhine State, Shan State and Chin State by more than K 15 billion of National Disaster Management Fund.
The (56) units of Cyclone Shelter in Ayeyarwady Region, (26) units in Rakhine State, (2) units in Chin State and (1) unit in Shan State will be built respectively.
“The project is to take refuge when people have been affected by natural disasters,” Dr. Win Myat Aye said.
The project will be implemented by the leadership of the National Disaster Management Committee to endure the disaster risks, he said.
Pauttaw Township adjoins Hantar Bay, a part of the Bay of Bengal and is situated in the Kaladan Valley. Therefore, cyclone-proof shelters are needed to be built, U Aung Kyaw Zan said.
“To protect the lives of the people, disaster resistant buildings are needed to be built for the disaster preparedness activities,” he added.
According to the project, efforts are being made to build (3) units of cyclone shelters in Ponargyi, Kanchaung, Alalgyun illage tract in Pauttaw Township by the National Disaster Management Committee Fund and (1) unit of cyclone shelter in Ngapyigyun village by Bangladesh’s donations during 2018, Dr. Win Myat Aye replied the questions at the Parliament.
