Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have quietly purchased a $4.5 million, 12-acre estate in Irvington, NY.
The deal closed shortly after they sold their Bedford Corners estate to Aussie cardboard billionaire Anthony Pratt, as we previously reported.
If you, too, want to live in the neighborhood, there’s now a mansion once on the market for $9.49 million that will be hitting the auction block with a suggested value of $4.99 million — nearly half off its original asking price.
The home, at 2 El Retiro Lane in Irvington, was built in 1912. The property includes an 11,357-square-foot main house, along with a guest house and a pool house — all on 2.2 acres.
The auction, run by Paramount Realty USA’s Misha Haghani, will be held on Oct. 24.
The eco-friendly home, formerly owned by developer Michael Paterno, uses solar technology and has a cogeneration facility that creates electricity.
The owners bought the home for $1.5 million in 2008 and spent more than $5 million renovating it and restoring it, Haghani says. They first put it on the market for $9.45 million in 2015.
