"The Royal Tenenbaums" star Hackman and his pianist wife, who wed in 1991, had been living in the home for several decades. The actor purchased the property in the 1980s for an undisclosed amount and spent years working to turn it into an idyllic escape from the pressures of Hollywood.
(According to Chief Medical Investigator Dr. Heather Jarrell, Hackman, 95, died on Feb. 18 as a result of cardiovascular disease, with "advanced" Alzheimers being a "significant factor." (Fox/YouTube)
(According to a search warrant issued by the Santa Fe Sheriff's Department, Arakawa's body was found with signs of "mummification" and "bloating."(Google Earth)

Hackman's rustic-style home sits atop a hill and comes with 12 acres. The residence boasts at least four bedrooms and 360-degree mountain views that stretch as far as Colorado.
In a 1990 interview with Architectural Digest, Hackman explained that he would rather remodel a house than build one from scratch.
