United States President-elect Donald Trump revealed why he could not get rid of his closest ally Elon Musk, who has been seen spending nearly every day with him at his Florida estate.
Jokingly, Trump said he "can't get rid" of Musk.
During his meeting with Republican leaders in Washington DC on Wednesday (Nov 14), Trump said, "Elon won't go home. I can't get rid of him, at least until I don't like him."
Musk has been seen almost every day at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago and reportedly also sat with soon-to-be US president for conversations with world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He was also seen playing a game of golf with Trump and his granddaughter.
The US president-elect declared Musk co-chair of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Tuesday with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO leading the agency alongside former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
The agency will operate “outside of government," Trump said. Veteran tech journalist Kara Swisher told CNN on Sunday morning that Trump insiders were confused and unnerved by the extent of Musk’s influence.
"He definitely inserts himself all the time; that’s his style. That’s why he’s just suddenly shown up there like the guest that wouldn’t leave," she said.
"I’ve heard from Trump people calling me saying, ‘Oh wow, this is odd,’” she added. “And I’m like yeah it is, you’ll see much more of it.
Musk was also a constant presence on Trump's campaign trail. He also donated at least $132 million to Trump’s re-election bid and other Republicans.
Moreover, he was also seen in many of Trump's family photos, standing alongside the soon-to-be president, excluding his wife Melania, in a post-election group picture.
